SME Brexit Support Fund

The government has made £20 million available through the current SME Brexit Support Fund. Provided you meet certain eligibility criteria, HMRC may provide funding towards the costs of training and/or professional advice, to help you with changes to trade rules with the EU.

Traders can apply for up to £2,000 in total through two types of grants:


1. Grant for Training: The grants can be used to provide training on the following:
- How to complete customs declarations
- How to manage customs processes and use customs software and systems
- Specific import and export related aspects including VAT, excise and rules of origin


You can apply for this grant to book on to any of our international trade training courses listed below.

 

2. Grant for Professional Advice: The grant can be used to get professional advice, so your business can meet its customs, excise, import VAT or safety and security declaration requirements.
The fund is due to run until 30th June 2021 or until the funds run out.

Customs Compliance, Procedures and Documentation (BCC accredited)
This one day course is designed to increase understanding of customs procedures for both imports and exports. It will consider the impact of the latest UK Customs Procedures as they have evolved under the Union Customs Code and will explain in detail your obligations and responsibilities to HMRC.

A Beginner’s Guide to Exporting
Do you understand what documentation is required to export and import goods? This full day course is suitable for complete beginners who are new to their role or exporters that have not had any formal training. This course will also provide those businesses that were only moving goods within the EU an opportunity to understand the basic export processes and documentation requirements since the UK has completed it departure from the EU.

Export Documentation / Understanding Export (BCC Accredited)
This one day course provides delegates with the necessary skills and knowledge to prepare and process documents encountered when exporting goods overseas. It is fully supported with user friendly notes to ensure they can operate effectively in the workplace.

Customs Declarations Training
Are you a customs agent? Or does your company use customs agents and intermediaries to help you trade with the EU? If so, you need to know how to meet customs requirements fast and efficiently now that the UK has left the EU. There are new processes to follow and new forms to complete. Our training is an introduction to customs declarations and will highlight what you need to know to complete customs declarations accurately and efficiently.

Import Procedures (BCC Accredited)
This one day course will lead delegates through the procedures and documentation required to successfully complete an import transaction. Delegates will learn about the import process from initial contact with potential supplier to the import customs clearance process to ensure receipt of goods in time and within budget. EU - UK import procedure updates will also be provided.

Rules of Origin Preference and Non-Preference (BCC Accredited)
This half day course will explain the complex subject of Origin, which is essential to understand, as the country in which a product is made can affect the import duty that is applicable. We will examine the non-preferential rules for determining the country of origin of goods, in accordance with the provisions of Non-Preference origin rules. We’ll discuss the new UK Continuity Agreements and the UK-EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement Benefits for your organisation.
